The Opioid Epidemic: Usage and Statistics
Top-Rated Opioid Rehabs in California
Opioid use disorder and Opioid addiction are considered epidemics both in the United States and worldwide. Facts about the opioid epidemic not only illustrate the problem but give us an opportunity to learn more about why it affects so many of our loved ones. With that in mind, here are some facts that might surprise you about opioid use:
- Three million United States citizens and 16 million individuals worldwide either have had or currently meet the criteria for Opioid use disorder.
- Opioid-related overdose was declared a national emergency in 2017. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), around 80,411 overdose deaths involved Opioid drugs in the United States in 2021.
- It’s common for opioid addiction to start with prescription medication. Roughly 80% of those who use heroin in the United States report that they started using pills first.
Getting a prescription for an Opioid drug is a major risk factor in Opioid abuse, alongside trauma, other mental health conditions, and personal or family history of addiction. These are some of the reasons for heightened levels of Opioid abuse in the United States.

I didn’t know it was possible to get sober until I went to silicon beach treatment center. They give you excellent support and have amazing communication with you at all times. The person who helped me out the most was Stephen Carr, the administration director. He was so genuine, down to earth and gave me motivation and inspiration every single day, but even on the days that I didn’t want it. He support me on my journey every step of the way and I couldn’t thank him enough till this day. I tried for 2 years to get sober and now I am already 10 months sober !

This treatment center is one of the reasons why I am alive today and clean and sober. The care I got from staff while my stay there was so genuine and caring. I can’t put in words how grateful I am to have passed through Silicon Beach Treatment Center. They will always have a place in my heart and if you are looking for help this is by far one of the best places there is out there.

Silicon is a great program. From the Clinical Director, Alisha (Ali) to House Managers like Stephen Castel, everyone cares and genuinely wants to help you recover in whatever ways they can. The sober livings are clean and spacious, and don’t feel crowded like housing in treatment often does. Groceries are provided with client input on what we like and want for the house

Southern California Opioid Addiction Treatment Options
Atlas Healthcare Group owns multiple treatment centers in Southern California. We offer a full continuum of care. In other words, we provide every form of treatment or level of care used to address addiction. All of our clients get a personalized treatment plan, regardless of the level of care they’re in. Here are the options available at Atlas Healthcare Group and what they entail. Many of our clients attend more than one level of care at Atlas. If you aren’t sure which one is right for you when you enter treatment, our staff members will help. Supportive housing and aftercare planning are available.
Detox
Getting off of Opioid drugs can come with serious withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Detoxification or “detox” is a level of care designed to help you get off of drugs and alcohol safely with the help of experienced medical staff. Atlas Healthcare Group’s detox program provides 24/7 supervision and access to medication-assisted treatment (MAT), which can help prevent relapse. Generally, clients attend detox as a precursor to another level of care, such as residential inpatient or partial hospitalization.
Residential Inpatient
Residential inpatient programs are the most intensive form of addiction treatment. In the residential inpatient treatment program at Atlas, you will eat, sleep, and live at your treatment facility for the duration of your program. Your daily schedule will consist of groups, individual counseling, recreation activities, and other treatments, as well as time to rest and reflect. The benefits of residential inpatient treatment include but aren’t limited to 24/7 access to medical staff, on-site amenities, a wide range of therapies, treatments, and activities, and an opportunity to immerse yourself in the healing process.
Partial Hospitalization
Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) is the next step down from residential inpatient. Also called partial day, PHP supplies the highest level of supervision and support you can get for Opioid addiction without being in an inpatient program. Rather than live on-site, our PHP clients commute to their treatment facility for treatment 3-5 days per week and leave when treatment is over for the day. However, many of the same therapies and treatment activities in PHP are the same as those used in inpatient treatment. PHP can be an ideal alternative to residential inpatient treatment for those who prefer not to live at their treatment center and do not require 24/7 supervision.
Intensive Outpatient
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) is the next step below PHP. In IOP, you will attend therapy and groups for at least ten hours per week but will return home at the end of the day. Since IOP requires a lower time commitment than PHP and extends more flexibility, it can be ideal for those looking for an Opioid rehab center in California who need to work, go to school, or fulfill other obligations while in treatment.
Outpatient
Outpatient programs are the least intensive kind of addiction treatment. In addiction treatment, outpatient services are often used as an aftercare strategy for those who have completed PHP, IOP, or residential inpatient treatment for their addiction. Outpatient can also be used as an initial form of care or to avoid and mitigate relapse. Outpatient treatment is very flexible. The time commitment is lower than PHP or IOP and will depend on the specific treatments you choose to pursue or continue, such as individual therapy sessions, groups, and medication management.
